In response to a request from Nova Scotia Minister of Justice Ross Landry, the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP (CPC) will conduct a review of the RCMP's response to requests for assistance from Ms. Nicole (Ryan) Doucet which occurred in Nova Scotia before March 13, 2008.

The CPC will review the RCMP's internal examination of this matter, the conduct of RCMP members involved in the handling of files related to Ms. (Ryan) Doucet prior to March 13, 2008, and the consistency of their actions with established practice, policies and procedures, including those related to reports of domestic violence.

The CPC is an independent agency created by Parliament to ensure that public complaints made about the conduct of RCMP members are examined fairly and impartially. The CPC is not part of the RCMP.
