Report on Annual Expenditures for Travel, Hospitality and Conferences (2011–2012)
As required by the Treasury Board Directive for the Management of Expenditures on Travel, Hospitality and Conferences, this report provides information on the total annual expenditures for travel, hospitality and conferences for the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP (CPC) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2012. It also provides the variance explanations from the previous fiscal year.
This information is updated annually and does not contain information withheld under the Access to Information Act or the Privacy Act.
Expenditures on travel, hospitality and conferences incurred by federal departments and agencies are for the most part directly related to supporting departmental mandates and the government's priorities. In particular, for the CPC these expenditures support civilian oversight of RCMP members' conduct in performing their policing duties, so as to hold the RCMP accountable to the public.

Significant variances compared to the previous fiscal year
The CPC saw an overall reduction in spending on travel, hospitality and conferences of close to 12%. The spending reduction was primarily in the area of travel, mainly due to a key staff vacancy within its Outreach unit.
