Statement – RCMP's apology to the mother of Robert Dziekanski

Ian McPhail, Interim Chair of the Commission for Public Complaints Against the RCMP, issued the following statement further to the RCMP's formal apology offered to the mother of Robert Dziekanski and the announcement of a settlement of her lawsuit:

"Today's developments on the tragic Robert Dziekanski case are very encouraging. The Commission's December 2009 investigative report was unequivocal in its findings. Our recommendations identified ways the RCMP can avoid similar incidents from occurring in the future. We await the RCMP's formal response to our report."
