The Civilian Review and Complaints Commission (CRCC) for the RCMP's X account (@CRCC_CCETP) is managed by our Communications team. The use of X by the Commission is intended to encourage interaction between the users of this platform and the Commission.

If you follow @CRCC_CCETP, you can expect to receive alerts about the Commission's Web content (news, publications, videos, etc.).

Tweet Hours

We monitor and update @CRCC_CCETP between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. EST/EDT, Monday to Friday, except on statutory holidays.

We accept no responsibility for X downtime.

Replies and Direct Messages

We read all @replies, comments and direct messages sent to us. We will respond in the official language (English or French) of the user's choice.

We encourage posts that are relevant to the mandate of the Commission.

We do not engage on political issues.

Following and Followers

The Commission does not automatically follow all accounts. We subscribe to accounts that are considered relevant to our mandate, partners and shareholders.

Please note that @CRCC_CCETP's subscription to other accounts does not necessarily mean that we support them.

Retweets

Retweeting by the Commission does not mean support on its part. The Commission may repost news and links that it considers relevant to its mandate.

Official Languages

Tweets are posted in both official languages. However, @replies and direct messages that require a response will be answered in the official language of the user's choice.

Please note that some links and information from external sources are not subject to the Official Languages Act.

Inappropriate Comments

The Commission will not reply to comments that:

  • are contrary to the principles of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms;
  • are libelous, abusive or rude;
  • attack or discriminate against any other individual or group based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age, or mental or physical disability;
  • contain threats or harassment;
  • violate an individual's privacy;
  • break copyright rules; and
  • contain spam or links to malicious Websites.

We reserve the right to block followers who send us messages or comments that are deemed inappropriate.

X, as a third-party network, is not bound by Government of Canada policies for Web accessibility.

The Commission's X account is not a Government of Canada Website. Users are encouraged to read the privacy policy of all such third-party service providers, including X's.

Information shared with the @CRCC_CCETP account is subject to the provisions of the Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act and the Library and Archives Canada Act, which means that the information may be accessed and disclosed in response to a request under any of these acts. Users are advised not to share personal information, including addresses and telephone numbers.

General Enquiries and Media Requests

For information on how to make a complaint, please consult the Commission's Website at: www.crcc-ccetp.gc.ca. We will not accept complaints sent via X, nor will we deal with questions concerning complaints if they are received through X.

Media requests will be forwarded to the CRCC's media relations officer.
